ZCG gets too much ZEC. Here's our plan to fix that. 🛡️

So here’s what we’d like to do about it: cut our own funding, give back what we don’t need, and put it toward future block rewards instead. ZEC in the NSM is out of circulation, and it’s paid to miners slowly, over decades. ZCG is exploring a proposal to do it, and we wanted to share the idea before we write it up in full. Less. Under current law, ZCG receives about 109,000 ZEC by the 2028 halving. With the taper, it receives about 47,000: less than half. Slower. What’s left is spread out to the 2032 halving, shrinking every month. From the treasury. If the community supports it, ZCG also moves about 36,200 of the ~91,500 ZEC it holds to the NSM: the ZEC it received above the taper schedule. ZCG keeps ~55,200. In all, about 98,000 ZEC goes from ZCG to future block rewards. The Idea : Same 20%, security that doesn’t run out Every four years, the block reward that pays miners to secure Zcash is cut in half.
