Swap BCH to XMR: Crossing from Peer-to-Peer Cash Into Monero
Bitcoin Cash is cheap to move but fully transparent. Here's the BCH-to-XMR route, what it costs, and why the exchange breaks the trace.
Bitcoin Cash was built to be spendable — big blocks, low fees, confirmations in minutes. That same design makes every BCH transaction permanently visible on a public ledger. Moving BCH into Monero is therefore one of the higher-value privacy crossings: the item you're leaving behind (your whole BCH history) is the most exposed asset you can bring to the exchange. At the time of writing, 5 BCH swaps to roughly 2.56 XMR on our rate panel — live quote applies.
Step by step: choose BCH and the Bitcoin Cash network on the sending side, XMR on the receiving side, and paste your Monero address. You'll get a one-time BCH deposit address; send from a wallet you control, wait for confirmations (BCH typically needs 1–6 blocks), and the XMR payout follows. Anything between ~0.05 BCH and a few hundred covers the practical quoting range on most aggregators.
The privacy logic, in order: the BCH deposit address is single-use and generates no account; the payout goes only to the Monero address you specify; and once the XMR lands, ring signatures and stealth addresses take over. The one thing that must not happen is reusing an XMR address that already touched a KYC exchange — that single paste recreates the link you just paid a spread to break. Fresh subaddress per order, always. (how Monero privacy works)
Cost picture: BCH network fees are cents at current congestion, and the XMR receiving leg stays under a cent thanks to Bulletproofs+ and dynamic block weights. What remains is the service fee — on aggregation routes quoted upfront, typically 0.4–1% inside the rate. Compare that with a KYC exchange where the 'price' also includes identity documents linked to that XMR address forever.
Timing notes: send BCH only from a wallet you control — never direct from an exchange withdrawal screen, where the memo field may not match a single-use address, and where the transaction itself links your account to the order. If BCH is on an exchange, withdraw to your own wallet first, then swap. Ten minutes of patience, one link broken.
After the XMR arrives: sync your wallet over Tor, back the seed up properly, and keep the payout address list out of spreadsheets. The BCH leg was the loud half; from here on, Monero's default privacy does the quiet work. (Is Tor safe for swaps?)
