Swap SOL to XMR: The Solana-to-Monero Path, Without an Account
Solana wallets are cheap and fast; Monero wallets don't ask who you are. Here's how the SOL→XMR crossing works and what to watch.
A lot of DeFi-native users hold their stack on Solana — negligible fees, two-second settlement, wallet on the phone. The moment some of that stack needs to become Monero, a different kind of network enters the picture: one that has no public addresses to trace, no amount labels, and no account system. At the time of writing, 20 SOL swaps to roughly 4.06 XMR on our rate panel — live quote applies.
Mechanics: SOL on the Solana network in, XMR out to your Monero address. You'll get a one-time Solana deposit address — paste it into your Phantom/Solflare withdrawal, send, and the aggregation layer handles the route and XMR payout after confirmations. Solana confirmations are effectively instant; the XMR leg settles at 10 confirmations (~20 minutes) on most providers.
The account trap on this route: Solana wallets are often tied to exchange accounts or to on-chain reputation systems (airdrop farming, DEX volume, SOL name services). If the receiving Solana address is publicly known to be yours, the funding transaction is a public declaration that 'this wallet just became Monero.' Prefer an intermediate: a Solana address that never appeared in public association, or accept that the entry point is visible even though everything after it is not.
Slippage and size: SOL/XMR runs through fewer liquidity venues than BTC/XMR, so large orders drift from mid-market quotes faster. Splitting a big conversion into two or three tranches an hour apart usually lands better than one market-order on the full amount. Fee structure on aggregation routes remains in-quote, 0.4–1%, with the Solana leg costing cents and the XMR leg a fraction thereof.
Refund discipline matters more on new chains: if the deposit address gets overpaid or you send SOL on the wrong network variant, the refund comes back only to an address you named at order creation. Name a Solana address you control — not a swap deposit address of another service.
Once the XMR is in your wallet, the Monero half is already the safest part of the journey: subaddress per transaction, Tor-synced wallet, seed offline. The Solana side was the visible chapter — close it cleanly. (Is Tor safe for swaps?)
