USDT on 11 Networks: Cheapest Route to XMR (2026)
We quoted 100, 1,000 and 5,000 USDT on all 11 USDT networks at the same minute. Aptos led at 100, TRC20 trailed by 5.8%, and three routes cap near $725.
USDT looks like one currency in a wallet list. On the liquidity side it is eleven different assets. Each network has its own contract, its own deposit path, and — the part that costs money — its own quote. On 2026-11-08 between 06:04 and 06:06 UTC I sent the same 100, 1,000 and 5,000 USDT through VeilSwap's /api/quote for all eleven USDT network ids, all to XMR. At 100 USDT the best quote paid 0.15555256 XMR (Aptos) and the worst paid 0.14702657 XMR (TRC20). Same dollar amount, same minute, 5.8% more XMR on one network than the other. At 1,000 USDT the gap collapsed to 0.032%; at 5,000 it was gone. The network picker is not cosmetic. It decides a fixed deduction, a route ceiling, and a deposit fee, and those three behave differently at different sizes. (XMR to USDT exit)
What the eleven listings are. The catalogue exposes usdt-eth, usdt-trx, usdt-bsc, usdt-sol, usdt-matic, usdt-avaxc, usdt-arbitrum, usdt-ton, usdt-base, usdt-apt and usdt-assethub — 437 assets across 65 networks at the time of writing, of which these eleven carry the USDT ticker. None of them uses a memo or tag. They are not interchangeable: a TRC20 transfer is a TRON transaction to a TRON contract; an ERC20 transfer is an Ethereum transaction to a different contract. The quote endpoint keys on the full asset id, so 'USDT' alone is not an answer it can price. That is also why the order page prints one specific network next to the deposit address, and why sending the same ticker on another chain is not a cosmetic mistake but a different transaction that the order does not watch. The snapshot. 100 USDT bought, in descending order: Aptos 0.15555256 XMR; TON 0.15544546; Arbitrum 0.15529948; BSC 0.15529058; Asset Hub 0.15527188; Polygon 0.15501721; Solana 0.15498030; Ethereum 0.15492108; Base 0.15476702; Avalanche 0.15316987; TRON 0.14702657. At 1,000 USDT: Ethereum 1.652599; TRON 1.65209; BSC 1.652623; Solana 1.652601; Polygon 1.652623; Avalanche 1.652626; Arbitrum 1.652604; TON 1.63626867; Base, Aptos and Asset Hub returned 'amount above maximum'. At 5,000 USDT: Ethereum 8.263225; TRC20 8.262716; BSC 8.263249; Solana 8.263227; Polygon 8.263249; Avalanche 8.263252; Arbitrum 8.26323; TON 8.21698678; the same three networks were above their maximum. Every quote at 100 used a single route; at 1,000 the six main networks had two routes bidding, the winner ahead by 98–148 bps. All quotes are 06:04–06:06 UTC; the spot reference was XMR $598.18 and USDT $0.999. (SOL to XMR guide)
The difference is a fixed deduction, not a worse exchange rate. Take the 1,000 and 5,000 quotes for the six networks that quoted both — Ethereum, TRON, BSC, Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum — and solve out = (amount − F) × m. Every one returns the same slope, m = 0.0016526565 XMR per USDT (605.09 USDT per XMR). Only F differs: about 6.03 USDT on Arbitrum, 6.04 on BSC, 6.20 on Polygon, 6.22 on Solana, 6.26 on Ethereum, 11.04 on TRC20. TON is a different route: F ≈ 5.52 but a worse slope (0.00164518, or 607.84 USDT/XMR), which is why it beats the main group at 100 and loses at 1,000. A 5-dollar difference is 5% of a 100-dollar order and 0.5% of a 1,000-dollar order. That is the whole pattern. The F is not the miner's fee — it is the quote's built-in fixed deduction; the chain fee is paid separately by your wallet. (SOL to XMR guide)
Ceilings matter more than rates above $700. The same quotes carry explicit min and max amounts. At 06:05 UTC they were: Ethereum 14.092943–165,590.877337 USDT; TRON 19.072458–165,595.382612; BSC 13.6566143–165,305.645527; Solana 13.859303–165,590.665949; Polygon 13.707435–86,397.546572; Avalanche 14.989687–3,462.056494; Arbitrum 13.780243–165,590.594417; TON 13.695491–71,998.81177; Base 13.932341–725.30089; Aptos 13.629683–725.068455; Asset Hub 13.649633–725.086505. Base, Aptos and Asset Hub cannot take a 1,000-dollar order at all; Avalanche stops at 3,462; TON at 72,000; Polygon at 86,400. The limits are set in dollar terms, so they move as the price moves. Above the ceiling the API answers 'amount above maximum', not a worse rate. (SOL to XMR guide)
What the deposit side costs. The quote's fixed deduction is only one line. The other is what your wallet pays to send the USDT. At 06:06 UTC Ethereum gas was 0.0698 gwei; at 63,000 gas an ERC20 transfer costs about 0.0000044 ETH, or $0.0098. BSC was 0.05 gwei (about $0.0022), Polygon 267.6 gwei (about $0.0021), Avalanche 2.5 gwei (about $0.0013), Arbitrum 0.02 gwei (about $0.0028) and Base 0.006 gwei (about $0.0008). Solana charges 5,000 lamports per signature ($0.00045) plus 1,488,440 lamports of refundable rent for a 165-byte token account ($0.133). TRON is the outlier: a USDT transfer uses 64,285 or 130,285 energy at 100 sun per unit, so 6.4285 or 13.0285 TRX — $2.06 or $4.18 at TRX $0.3205. On EVM chains and Solana the deposit fee is noise next to the quote's fixed deduction; on TRON it is $2–4 and stacks on top of the highest small-order deduction. 'Cheapest gas' is not the same as 'cheapest swap'. (SOL to XMR guide)
The exit leg is its own market. The same network choice exists in reverse. At 06:05:28 UTC, 1 XMR sold for 591.394–591.713 USDT on the seven main routes, but only 585.581589 on TON, 585.648573 on Aptos, 584.769859 on Asset Hub and 584.176196 on Base. The four smaller routes pay about 1.3% less USDT for the same XMR. Against spot XMR $598.18, a 1,000-USDT forward order implied 605.10 (about +1.2%) and the reverse paid 591.7 (about -1.1%): a round trip costs roughly 2.2% before any fixed fees. If you plan to come back, quote both legs in the same minute; do not compare today's buy quote with yesterday's screenshot. (XMR to USDT exit)
How to pick, by size. Under about $120, the low-fee routes — Aptos, TON, Arbitrum — are the cheapest; the exact winner moves with the minute. From $120 to $725, the main group (Arbitrum, BSC, Solana, Ethereum, Polygon) is within about 0.2% of each other and any of them is fine. From $725 to $3,462, drop Base, Aptos and Asset Hub; above $3,462 also drop Avalanche; above $72,000 drop TON; above $86,400 drop Polygon. TRC20 is the wrong choice at $100 and a perfectly ordinary choice at $1,000+, where its slightly better slope offsets its higher fixed deduction — but remember the $2–4 of TRON energy and the $19.07 minimum. Before sending, check three things on the order page: the network name, the deposit address, and the min/max. Then send a test amount if the sum is large, and use a refund address you control on the same network. (recovering misdirected funds)
The bottom line. USDT's network is not a branding detail; it is the asset id the order is built on. One ticker, eleven contracts, eleven routes, and at $100 a 5.8% spread between the best and worst quote. The numbers above are a snapshot taken at 06:04–06:06 UTC on 2026-11-08; quotes move every few seconds and the limits move with the price, so check the live page before you send. But the shape does not change: fixed deductions dominate small orders, route ceilings dominate large ones, and the chain fee is a third, separate line that matters most on TRON. (XMR to USDT exit)
